Taproot Wizards, a Bitcoin-based startup, hires a CTO following successful seed funding round
Bitcoin Ordinals Startup Taproot Wizards Appoints New CTO
Last week, Taproot Wizards, a startup specializing in bitcoin ordinals, announced a successful $7.5 million funding round led by Standard Crypto. Now, the company is making headlines again by bringing on Rijndael, a pseudonymous developer, as its new chief technology officer (CTO).
A Unique Art Collection
Co-founded by Udi Wertheimer and Eric Wall, Taproot Wizards is known for its generative art collection inscribed with bitcoin ordinals. The recent addition to the network allows data to be inscribed as NFTs and other digital collectibles, making it a unique and innovative concept in the crypto space.
Rising Popularity of Bitcoin Ordinals
The popularity of bitcoin ordinals has surged in November, resulting in nearly $30 million in transaction fees since Nov. 4, according to Blockworks Research. This spike in demand has made bitcoin transaction fees more expensive than Ethereum’s for the first time in three years, largely due to the increased blockspace demand created by ordinals.
A New CTO with Impressive Experience
Prior to joining Taproot Wizards, Rijndael worked as the technical lead at Amazon’s NFT project and, more recently, on Bitkey’s self-custody wallet. In a public announcement about his new role, Rijndael expressed his belief in the potential of the Ordinals ecosystem to expand the traditional Bitcoin culture and make it more accessible to a wider audience.
Expanding the Team and Minting NFTs
As the newly appointed CTO, Rijndael also revealed his plans to hire a full-stack engineer to join the Taproot Wizards team. Additionally, the company has announced its intention to mint 2,121 NFTs, each featuring variations of a Microsoft Paint drawing of a wizard that was originally posted on Reddit to promote bitcoin a decade ago.
Success of Generative NFT Projects
Generative NFT projects like Taproot Wizards have proven to be highly successful in the crypto space. Other collections, such as Bored Apes and CryptoPunks, have achieved significant sales on the Ethereum blockchain. According to CryptoSlam, these two collections rank as the second and third-highest selling NFT collections ever, further demonstrating the potential for success in this market.
Overall, the appointment of Rijndael as CTO and the ongoing developments at Taproot Wizards indicate a promising future for the company and the bitcoin ordinals ecosystem as a whole.
